About Black Cat

A mother of two, Black Cat founder, owner, and president Suzan Porter developed a passion for artisan food products while on a trip to France. Attending the Evergreen State College to earn a Master’s Degree in teaching, she had the opportunity to spend a semester abroad.

Already a health-conscious cook, she was introduced to a world of handcrafted products that highlighted the local flavors and traditions. Several months and half a globe away from her family and home, the seed was planted.

Suzan, a math and science teacher by trade and a gardener by hobby, returned to Olympia and began to experiment with local ingredients to create her own infused vinegars and liqueurs.

Bringing together tradition, experience, and local flavor has been a principal of Black Cat from the beginning. Under the 17-year-old watchful eye of its namesake, Suzan has carefully crafted each bottle of Black Cat to be the essential ingredient to your meal.
